first meal お食い初め

There is another tradition that babies have first meal on 100th day to wish "they never have problem of food" in Japan. It is called "Okuizome" and it has more than 1000 years history. September 28th was Nanoka's 100th day. It does not have to be exact day, so we decided to do last weekend. Both grandparents were not coming for this, so we kept it small and personal, again, but still special. I thought it was so important since it was about food!９月２８日がなのかが生まれて１００日目。聞いた所によると、どうやら、「お食い初め」とやらをするらしい。例によって、都会の核家族らしく、じじばば等も来る様子がなかったので、こじんまり、家族３人で行う事にした。行事続きで、家計が苦しかったが、奮発して「鯛の尾頭付き」も注文した。平日に買い物に行ったり、調べ物をしたりで、一人でなんとか、それらしいものを準備した。本来は、女の子は黒塗りのお膳とお椀、みたいなお食い初めセットがあるらしいのだが、お高いので、私が昔、イラストの賞の副賞でもらった大人用の塗りのお椀を使った。お箸は新しいのを買った。これで、食いしん坊ナノがいつ、食べ物を口にしても、「お食い初め後」になるので、安心だ。

I looked up "Okuizome" and found the dishes I had to prepare for the ceremony. It is "sour dish" "clear soup-with clam or devil fish or shrimp" "seasonal vegetable dish" "sticky rice with beans" "dried pram" "black beans" "Grilled whole devil fish", three stones from shrine, in new dishes...お食い初めについて調べてみると、「酢の物」「吸い物」「季節の野菜の煮物」「赤飯」「梅干しや黒豆」「尾頭付きの鯛の焼き物」そして神社から借りて来た石、を並べるようだ。

I had to prepare all by myself for three days. I called up some stores and ordered fish. Then I went shopping to look for new kids chopsticks. Then I bought vegetables. Nano was bored of shopping and I was in a harry.　平日に一人で準備をしなければならず、ナノを伴って、買い物へ。もちろん、ナノはご機嫌が怪しく、焦りながら、必要な野菜と、子供用の箸を探して、うろうろした。

I was so tired after shopping and did some preparation. I was checking the list and said, "OK, so we will pick up fish and buy some sticky rice with beans there."　煮物を作り、下準備もして、「よし、後は日曜日に鯛を取りにいって、そこで赤飯を買う」とチェックしていたら、相方が聞いていて、

Then husband said, "why don't you cook rice. I do not know, but you can add red color or something," I was almost mad. I did everything by myself and still he asked me more. Actually his sticky rice cooking idea was so wrong, Don't mention about cooking without knowledge!　「それこそ、赤飯ぐらい、作ればいいじゃん」と気軽に言ってきた。全部一人で準備してるのに、そんな手のかかる事までやっていられるか。ムカ〜。「色紅とか入れて、炊けばいいんでしょ？」ていうか、間違ってるし。ホント、わかんないなら、黙っててよね。

This is her first meal (she just pretended to eat. 無事、お食い初めも終了いたしました。
