I had assignment of report about latest anti-aging health care from woman magazine and I took two medical care for anti-aging.

As for age, I think the speed to get aged depends pretty much on individuals. Some middle age people get so much physical problem all over the body, on the other hand some 90 something people are still active. My grandmother in my father's side lived until 99. I met her youngest sister who was 80 at that time, and she ran after cars to see off everytime somebody left-very energetic and young. All my grandmother's sisters (they were 5 of them) live up over 90. I heard that people in Okinawa has gene to live long. Is the life length depending on our genes?

It is also up to the way of life style. My grandmother done all house keeping all by herself until 90-she got heart attack. She did not know any scientific knowledge about "do proper exercise" "eat this, not eat that" things, but remembering of her, she always keep moving in her pace.

She is cooking every day. I accompanied her to sit down on the kitchen floor and peel the vegetable skins. She kept garden nicely. Then she had nap when she felt tired.

She scrubbed the floor of house from this end to the other end every day. It is actually good exercise I notice. The reason why old time people are healthier is they use their muscles daily life, never allow their feet waken and keep their blood circulation normal.

Wherever I go to hear the anti-aging medicare, the doctors told me that the key word is "to keep blood circulation smooth" "to avoid low fever, activate the immune system. " As a result we
increase the natural ability to defeat every kinds of disease or virus. It is not easy for everybody to pay for the expensive anti-aging medication , but it is worth same to keep health by caring their own body in every day life for free. My grandmother's way of life is a kind of model for cheap long healthy life. It can be because they did not have much and their life was not convenient as ours. One doctor said the interesting things: "the function that people do not use is going to retard." It could be important to keep stressing on the body.

I used to smim in NY. At that time, I noticed how good exercise it is and I feel I shold swim when I thought about exercise all the time.

I started to swim after 4 years blank. I had been swimming 3 times a week , 1 kilometer, until 4 years ago-when I was down psychically. Once I was down, the chemical and cold water was hard for me. I was afraid 4 years blank but I swam OK.

I am not good at sport at all generally (Fortunately I did not notice it until I became adult) Technically I am terrible, but I have enegy to keep swimming, running and walking.

In my hometown, they thought that kids had to do some sports after the class. It was still a part of playing and I did not take it seriously about my not development even after training. I noticed recently by joining badminton cup invited by my friend. I could not hit the shuttle and my shuttle did not reach the defender's coat. I felt sorry for my partner.

I could not score over 100 in bowling. It is fine to do by my self, but if somebody said "Let's do group games" I will be so afraid to distroy the games.

I played golf once. My club never hit the ball. I standed at one place to swing the club forever. "this is the hardest sports" I thougt. I could feel that I won't make progress after some training from this first trial.

I feel scared to game sports. I am OK about being lost, but my being bad at sports destroy the atmosphere of people. For me, to keep doing forever such as swim forever, is the best sports. I am very happy to be fine to swim again.

40

My partner had his 40th birthday. "I already spent half of my life,,," he said and he dislike to hear the number 40. For me-a member of long life family, 40 is not the middle of the life and gave him the card marked big 40 and the novel titled "40" He showed his complicated thank you face. Anyway, birthday is always good things even we got older.

I finally bought a sawing machine. I have wanted one for a long time and for a year I was looking around, trying many in various shops. This brings me the life surrounded by what I like. Economically it is impossible for me to purchase whatever I like for my interior such as designer's bland products, but I would be so unhappy if I bought all the interior from cheap discount shops. If I handmade the sofa cover, cushion cover, table clothes and so on, I can keep my original fashionable life(I cannot say it is cheaper than discount shop. They are too cheap now).
I can make original goods, too. First, I tried to make book cover.

Cellphone photo

Last time, I mentioned the cellphone. I just bought new cellphone after using 4 years. The phone company told me that would not work in a year because of system change and also camera was broken for two years. It would be handy to record some references if I have cellphone camera.

This is my new cellphone. It is radically manly and big because I chose camera function first. I do not put any decoration and it looks the middle aged man's cellphone. I even did not change the photo from the first setting.

This is the last cellphone. I used the photo with baby Haruto-now he is 3 years old. It means I kept using the same photo for three years.

Young couple use their shot together. It might be same feeling of putting the favorite star photo behind the pass card in the last century. I even did not do that when I was in high school. I am that kind of lazy person.

Then what does he put in his cellphone?

It was the stray cat in my neighbor. This cat is very wild and ignore people. His face expression is quite unfriendly and his fur is dirty. He never comes closer even we called, so the shot was taken from distance. He is staring at the camera in loose pose. Why did he choose this photo? He said that he increase his irritate when he saw this photo. I really do not understand his choice.

The things has changed much faster recently. New PC won't work with latest software and tools in a few years. Programs updated every few months and knowledge discarded in 5 years. I feel tired just looking at thousands of latest cellphones in the shop. Do we really have to watch TV in the train? Does everybody want this change and development? I am not only one to find difficulty to catch up with the time. This fast change gives people not only happiness. Actually they disturb people to have vision of life. How can we concrete the life plan since all the experiences does not make sense in a few years?
"Slow life" "Slow food" "Lohas" is now fashion in the media. Those actions are reaction against the fast time change.

After e-mail became poplar, we rarely correspond the letters each other. Instead of sending the card, you can just say, "Happy new year!" by email. It is fast, cheap and handy. I read novels written just decades ago and got so surprised. At that time, young couple had no access to e-mail or phone, and they set up the date through the letters. Sometimes they made misunderstandings. They argued in each letters. How much time did they take for those conversation? However, that gave the young couple time to think over and get calm. E-mail is fast and convenient to explain what happens, but sometimes brings impatient conclusion by short-time reaction.
I use email everyday contact. Still I have some special emotion about mailing. The excitement when I found it in the post, the feeling of the paper, characteristic handwriting of the senders, the time and heart that the sender spent to choose the card or papers, and visual drama afterwards-put on the refrigerator or hide in the diary, all of those are precious. In US, people called it "snail mail" compared with email. That name reminds me the story by Arnold Robel and gives me happy feelings.
Since we use always email, the snail mail has much special meanings now. To make a cup of tea and put some postcards on table and write down for short message to friends will be great time for everybody. Wishing that, I designed postcards. It is about summer and too late to sell, but I will make fall seasons card and Christmas card after this.

On the other day, my friend who works for product design company told me about the guest designer from oversea. They did not speak either Japanese or English and they handed auto-translated documents and kept quiet. The documents were rarely understandable.

The present auto-translation software only has ability to automatically transfer one word into another and line them in grammatical system. Even in dictionary, each word has about 3-15 different meanings and we need to choose proper words for the contents. Even we find the right words for the content, there is still gap between two languages which has different cultural background. Thought of that, brain is unbelievable. I wonder how much can auto-translation software develop to take places of human being brain does.

I disliked English as subject when I started in junior high school. It is about grammar and finding the words in dictionary. The text is like, "Ken went to Bon dance with Lucy." It was radically boring to me. I marked bad scores just because of small careless mistakes.

Later in high school, I started to read literature in original and found it interesting for the first time. I could not read whole book of novels but I could understand what they said and I could feel beauty of the structure and rhythm. I was sometimes so moved that I teared. English came into me as the live language.

Some people asked me the way to study English. I was not so good at language as I said above and not good adviser at first place, but I answered, "movies." If you watch movies without Japanese subtitles, it is effective to learn live language. First you enjoy movies and also you are impressed even you are not sure you perfectly understand it. Real language gives you emotion, sympathy and so on.

I changed the tone in English. I am a little more emotional when I talk in English. Japanese is the less emotional language and we think that hiding own emotion is more sophisticated and beautiful. I was brought up in this culture, so I know it is unnatural to talk in tense. Same person looks different personality in different language.
If you translate other language one word each into Japanese before understanding, you will always feel unnatural and missing. It is going to be different experience the original texts as they are. Why don't you try "I am Dodo" for summer night read? (commercial?)

An American friend said to me, "Haven't you kiss your parents? I cannot believe it! How can you show your love without it?" American families always hug, kiss each other and they did not understand Japanese way.

On the other day, we talked about our parents generations and guessed that they rarely said "I love you" or "I feel affection for you." But they were brought up under different time and they hadn't heard or said those words, so the words were meaningless for them.

There is the famous example to tell the difficulty of the translation. Ringo, Japanese apple, is different from apples in English. Ringo is bigger as a result of tender agricultural effort and apple is wild and smaller.

In Japanese literature, Ringo appears as "mother peeled it and put into the glass bowl with forks,

In American literature, apples appear "he puts some apples into pocket and walk them walking the street." The image is a little different when we heard the same fruit name.

As American old couple said each other almost everyday, "I love you honey" but Japanese same generation couples never did same. "I love you" is not in their vocabulary to show their affection. But we cannot say that Japanese old couples don't love each other, or they do not tell each other.

The important thing is to let the partner know "I am loved." My grandfather, one nigh in the latter part of his life, said to my grandmother, "we are the most happiest couple. Kids are all grown up nicely." When becoming older, if they could say that they were happiest, it means that they love each other. It is not important which words are said. It is always culture and relationship behind the words choice.
