育ちによってなのか、世代なのか、それぞれに価値観があって、夫婦と言えども、合わない事もある。わが家の場合、大方、足並みを揃えられている方だと思うが、ひとつ、合わない事をあげるなら、衣服の処分である。
相方は、なんでも、「新しいもの」を好み、少し、よれてきただけで、下着も靴下も、「ぺっ」と捨てて、入れ替えようとする。私は、家計も厳しいのだし、徹底的に着たおすべきだと思っている。見えない所なら、ちょっとぐらい、よれてもいいのに、、、だいたい、娘にお古ばかりを着せてるんだから、親も服は、セーブすべきじゃないの？と。
以前、犬に噛みちぎられた手袋を、フェルトで補修して使っていたら、「これ、終了でしょう」と言われた。いやいや、お兄さん、これは、ものを大切にする心から来てるんです。今は、ものが、悪くなる前に「飽きた」「流行外」などと寿命が来てしまう事もあり、よけいに、補修して使う事に、価値がある事もあると思うのだ。
ただ、こればっかりは、たとえ安くても、とにかく、ピシッとした新品を揃えてもらって育った、相方の長ーい歴史があるので、心地よく思うラインが、どうしても違う。家計にひびかない程度で、気持ちよくやってもらえるよう、お互いの歩み寄りが必要なんだろう。
一方で、私は物持ちがあまり、よくない。特に、ズボンは、体の形が悪いのか、膝をついて、作業をする癖があるのか、片っ端から、膝に穴があく。穴があいたら、もちろん、みっともないし、寒い。しかし、それなりのジーンズは一本１万ぐらいする訳で、じゃんじゃか新品を買う余裕もない。ていうか、気に入ったジーンズを探しに行って、試着して、サイズ直ししてもらって、、、という時間的な余裕も、子育て母にはないのだ。
ずるずるしてるうちに、本格的な冬が来た。膝小僧に北風が染みる。という事で、補修を試みてみる事にした。空いた穴は大きく、糸だけでかがる事は不可能。それではと、膝あてのように、上からアップリケをしようと思ったが、大人のジーンズに、巨大な膝のアップリケは、かなり、厳しい見場になりそうだ。裏から別布を当てて、穴から見せる形にする事にした。
友人が、タイツがほころびると、母親が電球にかぶせて、かがっていたのを見て、ものを大切にする心を学んだ、と言っていた。私も、ナノカに、針と糸で、物が直る事を見せてやりたいと思い、目の前で、ジーンズ2本分、かがってみた。なんと、全ての行程を、隣でじっと見ていた。おもしろかったようだ。
There are many sense of value. My husband prefer the new clothes all the time. Just a little bit worn out clothes makes him feel uncomfortable and asked me to throw away and buy new ones. I feel that we should wear as long as possible for saving and respect for the materials. It is difficult since we were raised under different circumstances and it is not easy to change.
My jeans are always worn out around the knee. Maybe because of my body shape or habit to stand on knee to clean or work. Good jeans are not cheap. Also mom does not have time to go and look for good jeans, try and order the size change. I kept wearing the worn out jeans after I got the hole on knee. Then winter has come.
I tried to repair them. The hole is big and hard to be repaired with only thread. I first thought that I put the applique on them, but it would be wired to have enormous size applique on adults jeans. So I put the print clothes from inside the jeans.
My friend told me the story that her mom sew to repair the hole of the tights putting the bulb inside and she learn the importance to keep using the things by repair. I wanted to show Nanoka that we can repair the things by needle and thread, and I did in front of her. She was looking at all the process interestingly.
