田とスッポン Turtle in the rice field

One rainy day, I found a turtle in the rice field in my neighbour.ある雨の日、家の脇の田んぼで亀を見つける。

Nanoka asked me what it was. I guessed that was Imported turtle which damage the local ecosystme. 顔が長くてとんがっている。カミツキガメだろうか。こんな所にまで外来生物が、、、、

Nanoka said, "it was not so cute" three times. Then the turtle dove to the mud and disappeared. 目が上についてる変な顔を見て、ナノカが「あんまり、かわいくない」と３回言った。すると、ズブズブと泥の中に沈んでいき、消えた。

　We went home to look up in the internet. We got to know that was Suppon, the softshel turtle. Nanoka started to say, "It was cute. I want to meet him again" but never happened so far.家に帰って調べると、スッポンだということがわかった。ナノカは、「かわいかった」と言い始め、田んぼを毎日、覗きに行くが、もう会えない。

化学肥料が撒かれて、一気に、田んぼが静かになって、とてもショックだったが、
１週間もすると、肥料の比較的少なかった田んぼだろうか、また、おたまじゃくしが見られる所が、ぼちぼち現れ始めた。

そうして、また、田んぼを覗き込む日が戻ってきたのだが、
ある日、田んぼの泥の中に、一部、盛り上がってる場所があった。よーく見ると、カメである。スッポンだった。

後日、近所の人に聞いて、スッポンは、結構、いることがわかった。
「もらったのが、今、うちにいるよ。泥抜きしてる」
と、ご婦人が、にっこり、言う。
スッポンは、田で、冬越しをしていて、まだ、寝ぼけまなこのところを、田おこしの機械でつぶされることが、しょっちゅうある。
そこで、救出されたものが、このご婦人のもとに運ばれてくるのだ。

１週間ほど、水の桶で飼い、泥抜きをして、食べるとのこと。
味は、鶏肉に似ていて、出汁が出て、美味しいという。

それにしても、スッポンが潜り込んで、稲の下の泥の中をかき回しても、
大丈夫なんだなあ、と思った。
世の中には、知らないことが、いっぱいあるなあ。
I was very shocked to see that some chemicals kill the water lives such as tadpoles, but in a week, some lives came back to the rice field where
they threw less chemicals.

Then We found the snapping turtle.

After that, I asked neighbouring lady and she said
that it was very common for snapping turtle sleep underground
of the dry rice field during winter, then crashed in the spring
when they making field.
Some were saved and brought to her. She said she kept one
in the water for a week to remove mud from turtles inside,
then she cook,,,Wow!

She smiled to say, "It was tasty similar to chicken" Wow!

There were so many things I had not know yet.
