MMJ in Color カラーになった日

歌人の松村由利子さんが、体や病気などに関係する短歌を紹介するエッセイに、イラストを描かせてもらっています。途中、毎日ライフから、MMJという医学雑誌に移動しながら、長く続いてきた連載の挿し絵のお仕事。学術論文が並ぶ雑誌に、自分のイラストが載っているのを見ると、不思議な気持ちですが、逆に、楽しい気持ちになります。お忙しいお医者様や、研究者さんたちが、目を通すものなので、少しでも、あたたかいものになればいいな、と心がけています。
さて、非常に地味な（失礼！）雑誌なので、オール白黒が基本で、私のイラストも、ずーっと白黒だったのですが、今回、広告が入った都合で、裏面に入るこの記事も、カラー化の幸運を受ける事になりました。 長く仕事していると、雰囲気も固定して、仕事も慣れて、とても自然に仕事ができます。このMMJも、いつもは、そうだったのですが、カラーという事で、力は入るは、でも、いつもの雰囲気は崩しちゃいけないし、、、
結果としては、カラーだという事を、ある意味、最大限に生かそうと、「白黒写真と、カラー写真を並べて、時の流れを感じさせる」という、いささか、凝り過ぎの挿し絵になりましたが、長く続いてきた連載に、色がついた記念ですもの。いいんじゃないでしょうか。
I have been illustrating an essay article about Japanese short poem on MMJ, medical magazine. It is serious magazine showing lots of academic paper from all over the world. It feels funny to see my illustration next to these difficult specialized paper, but I am trying to be soft and warm because these are for busy doctor and scientists who has no sleep but work hard.
Fundamentally it is black and white magazine, so I have been illustrating in black and white for years but we got chance to make page in color because of commercial page. The writer and I were thrilled!
I ended up showing two photos-one is black and white and one is color telling the time passed in the family. I could do this because the page is in color!
