Hot Spring 混浴

私は、物心ついてから３回だけ、混浴にぶつかったことがある。
Originally Japanese have mixed bathing culture. Now it is not so common, but still remains. I got three chances to take mixed bathing after I got older.

一回目は、大学時代の東北旅行中に、友達と、「よし！ひなびた温泉に行こう！」と、かなり山奥の湯治場温泉に乗り込んでいった時のことだ。はじめて迷い込んだ湯治場は、私が想像していたよりずっとディープな世界だった。座敷に寝転んで仮眠する、老年の男女、裸で廊下を歩く老婆、そして、廊下の先の扉を開けると、脱衣場もなく、突然洗い場（外から、丸見え）だった。そこには、よく見ないとおじいちゃんなのかおばあちゃんなのかわからない、しわしわの男女が並んで、身体を洗っていた。初心者にはちょっと刺激が強すぎて、私と友人は露天風呂をあきらめたのだった。
First, I was around 20, and I went to northern area of Japan with my friend. It was in mountaineer side and that hot spring was for long term stay to medication. We got big cultural shock. It was an old dirty wooden building and old men and women(we could not judge at a glance) slept all over the floor of the room and naked old woman walked a hallway and at the end of the hallway, there was door directly to bath-open to outside-there was no changing room. We were not brave enough to wash ourselves next to wrinkled men and women in the nature. We gave up.

２回目は、家族旅行で、槍ヶ岳の側の宿に泊まったときの事だ。混浴露天風呂が空っぽだったので、勢いづいて母と２人で入っていたら、知らないおじさんが途中から入ってきてしまったのだ。油断していた私は、バスタオルをもっておらず、
Secondary, it was the time when I went to Yarigatake mountaineer good inn as family trip. My mom and I were bathing outside mixed bath since there was nobody around. But when we were in the tub, a man came. I did not bring bath towel,,,

「お母さんは中年で、既婚だから、もういいけど、私は嫁入り前でまだ若いから、まずい」と母を説得して、母のバスタオルを譲ってもらった。かわいそうな、母、、、
and asked my mom, "You are middle age and married, so you are fine, but I am younger and not married." and got her bath towel. Poor mom!

母のバスタオルを奪ってまで、混浴を拒否していたくせに、先日、３度目の混浴に遭遇した際は、わりとへっちゃらで、入ってしまった。まさか、「オバちゃんになって、羞恥心がなくなった」のだろうか？いや、きっと、慣れたんだ（と思いたい）

I refused mixed bathing by getting mom's bath towel, but I got third time recently and I accepted as natural thing. Am I older and feel less shyness? No, I just got used to it(I think,,,,)

その温泉は、下部温泉の源泉館といい、武田信玄の隠し湯の一つだという。このように、源泉そのものに板を張って、温泉にしている、まさに源泉の温泉。温度が低い冷泉で、きっとこの季節は気持ちいいのではないだろうか。ぜひ、お試しあれ。

That hot spring is Simobe Onsen and the bath name is Gensenkan. Very unique old hot spring that water springs under the tab. It is not hot, and good for this hot season. Try it if you have a chance!
